London plugfest 2025: a week of collaboration

Last month, DTG and Deutsche TV-Plattform (DTVP) welcomed more than 60 participants from 30 leading companies to our annual joint international Plugfest – a key technical gathering focused on testing, collaboration, and innovation. The event brought together a diverse mix of TV and set-top box manufacturers, HDMI equipment providers, content providers, broadcasters, platform operators, R&D institutions, standardisation bodies, and app and testing tool providers.

For a full and dynamic week, our DTG offices and test labs were alive with activity. From Monday, 24 February to Wednesday, 26 February, the Plugfest – run in cooperation with the HbbTV Association – focused on ensuring seamless interoperability across products, applications, and tools. This was followed by the HbbTV Testing Event from Wednesday, 26 February to Friday, 28 February, providing an opportunity to further refine HbbTV implementations.

But this event was about more than just technical validation. It was a platform for industry-wide collaboration, where companies could address challenges early, share insights, and drive forward the adoption of new technologies. The discussions, troubleshooting, and hands-on testing carried out over the week will play a vital role in improving compatibility, user experience, and the future of connected TV services.

Beyond the technical work, Plugfest 2025 reinforced the importance of community in our industry. The ability to connect, exchange ideas, and collaborate in person is invaluable. Whether in the test lab or during informal conversations, the event fostered new partnerships and strengthened existing relationships.

A huge thank you to all who participated and contributed to making the event a success. At DTG, we remain committed to driving industry standards forward, ensuring interoperability, and supporting innovation.
