Users can view detailed hourly forecasts and save favorite locations for personalized updates. Mediaset España has developed a new interactive feature within HbbTV capabilities: ""El Tiempo Hoy."" This project originated from an in-depth analysis of HbbTV users to understand the most valuable features to them. As a result, we created a personalized weather forecast tool that provides real-time information based on geo-location. Users can access today's weather forecast and detailed hourly predictions for the upcoming week.
In addition, users can save favorite locations within the interactive menu, offering convenience for checking the weather in their second residence or vacation location. This solution, deployed through an enhanced UI interactive banner, removes the need for mobile apps or news channels by providing instant access to weather updates, no matter the time or channel being watched.
Moreover, we incorporated personalized push notifications that deliver weather alerts, such as storm warnings or heatwave notifications, directly to the TV. These alerts offer an interactive feature where users can open the weather panel for more detailed information. This functionality opens new possibilities for advertising exploitation, where sponsors can leverage push notifications for promotional offers on seasonal products like airline or train tickets, sunscreen, and apparel, allowing brands to reach users in a timely and targeted manner.
