Salto EPG

DOTSCREEN is a partner of the French platform of SVOD SALTO, as part of the experiment on Digital Terrestrial Television, authorized by the CSA. At SALTO's request, the company has developed the DTT channel 50 access portal and has been responsible for its maintenance and upgrades since last April.

This HbbTV portal allows direct access, without downloading a TV application, to the SVOD platform on all compatible Internet-connected TVs. It also offers access to the ARTE.tv application on channel 77 as well as a Program Guide for all DTT channels, two applications which have also been developed by the company DOTSCREEN.

Description

DOTSCREEN's HbbTV EPG consists in a mosaic rather than a traditional TV grid. Such a presentation enables a more visual, easier to read way to know which TV program is available now or will be next, in prime time or night time. The TV viewer can also select a given TV channel to discover its programs by time slot. He/She can also change from one channel to another thanks to the top selection bar (displaying the channel logos) in a very intuitive and fluid navigation.

Impact

The first results show that terrestrial TV viewers consult the TV portal as well as the EPG in a growing and regular manner, which shows that DTT in France has been lacking an EPG as well as direct access to HbbTV applications/services that bring additional content, choice and interactivity to the TV viewers.
